Overview
HannanMaxIG ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that reveals hidden mention tags in Instagram stories and highlights. This privacy policy explains how the Extension handles your data.
Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with external servers. Specifically:
- No data is sent to any external server. All processing happens locally in your browser.
- No analytics or tracking. The Extension does not use any analytics services, pixels, or tracking scripts.
- No account information is collected. The Extension does not access or store your Instagram login credentials.
Local Data Storage
The Extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
- Mention history: A record of detected mentions (usernames, story owners, hidden status) from stories you have viewed. This is stored solely to display history in the Extension popup.
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time using the "Clear" button in the Extension.
Permissions
- storage: Used to save mention history locally on your device so it persists between browsing sessions.
- host_permissions (instagram.com): Required to run content scripts on Instagram pages in order to detect mention data in story responses as you browse.
How It Works
The Extension reads Instagram's own API responses as they are loaded by your browser when you view stories or highlights. It parses the mention metadata from these responses to identify hidden tags. No additional network requests are made by the Extension.
Third-Party Services
The Extension does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party services.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected in a new version of the Extension published to the Chrome Web Store.
